Elijah Williams -
Art/Design
Hey! I’m Elijah, an artist and game development generalist working out of Toronto, Canada. I dove into the games industry in 2015 after a year at George Brown College studying fine art. I was immediately hooked by the medium, and started devouring any information I could get my hands on about every facet of game development. Flash forward to the present and that borderline-obsessive thirst for knowledge hasn’t waned.
I love art across tons of different mediums. I’m particularly interested in film, interactive media, punky DIY mixed media projects, music, the list goes on. Creativity as a whole is my raison d'être.
Some of the skills I’ve acquired or developed in my time in the industry are: Traditional art and drawing, 3D art in the context of video games (character, environmental, and props), Strong scripting fundamentals incl. knowledge of C# and HLSL, Engine experience in a production context with Unity, GMS, Godot, and (some) Unreal Engine, an incredibly deep knowledge of Blender3D and a smattering of other creative software (such as PS, Ableton, Quixel, etc).
In addition to these hard skills, I’ve also developed a tool box of well-developed soft skills such as: communication, scope management, planning, deadline management, creative problem solving(particularly in the technical art department), and facilitating cross-department communication and collaboration.
Current state of affairs:
Currently working on Lovesick with Rose City Games.
In 2020, I joined up with Groundwater Studio, and ad-hoc, non profit collective of devs who come together to collaborate, hone their skills, and stoke their passion. We’ve been joyfully collaborating ever since.
